Terms and conditions

These terms govern the use of the FlexyRide portal and the contracting of our self-drive vehicle rental services in the Dominican Republic.

1. Purpose

Flexy Ride Rent A Car SRL, a company incorporated in the Dominican Republic, makes motor vehicles available to the customer on a self-drive rental basis.

2. Renter requirements

A valid driver's license, valid photo ID and a credit card in the main driver's name for the security hold. The minimum age required for each vehicle is shown before the booking is confirmed.

3. Booking and price

The rate includes insurance and unlimited mileage. ITBIS tax (18%), extras and any other applicable charges are itemized in the summary before you confirm. The vehicle is returned at the same place where it was delivered.

The rate is locked when the booking is issued. Later changes to published rates do not affect confirmed bookings.

4. Cancellations

The customer may cancel or postpone the booking. When postponed, the amount paid is kept as credit toward a future rental for one year; if the new rental costs more, the customer pays the difference.

5. Use of the vehicle

The vehicle may not be driven outside Dominican territory, nor used for paid passenger transport, racing, pushing or towing other vehicles, nor on roads unsuited to the vehicle type contracted.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances is prohibited and voids any contracted coverage.

6. Fuel and mileage

The vehicle is delivered with a full tank and must be returned the same way. Otherwise the missing fuel is charged plus a service fee. Mileage is unlimited across all groups.

7. Damage, coverage and deductible

The vehicle is handed over with full coverage against MAJOR DAMAGE: collision, write-off and theft are borne by the policy and are not charged to the renter, except for the exclusions in article 5.

MINOR DAMAGE, meaning damage whose repair cost falls below the applicable deductible, is for the renter's account. For reference, repainting a scuffed panel usually falls between RD$2,500 and RD$5,000.

The cost of minor damage is set by a workshop quotation and is given to the renter with the parts and labor itemized before it is charged against the held deposit.

Taking Super Cover (SCDW) reduces the deductible to zero: with it, the renter does not answer for minor damage either.

Pre-existing damage recorded at the handover inspection is not the renter's responsibility. Damage not recorded is presumed to have occurred during the rental.

SECURITY DEPOSIT. At handover a security deposit is held on the main driver's credit card. Its amount corresponds to the category of the vehicle rented and is disclosed to the renter before the booking is confirmed. The deposit is a hold, not a charge.

RELEASE OF THE DEPOSIT. The vehicle is inspected on return. Once the absence of damage, fines and outstanding charges is verified, the deposit is released in full. The time the issuing bank takes to reflect that release is outside FlexyRide's control.

HOLD PENDING ASSESSMENT. Should the inspection find damage, the deposit remains held until the repair cost is established by a workshop quotation, which is given to the renter with parts and labor itemized.

RETURN OF THE DIFFERENCE. Once the cost is established, only the repair amount is retained from the deposit and the difference is returned to the renter, with prior notice. Should the repair cost exceed the deposit held, FlexyRide will notify the renter of the difference before charging it.

8. Fines and violations

Traffic fines, unpaid tolls and penalties incurred during the rental period are the renter's responsibility and may be charged to their card along with an administrative handling fee.

9. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic. Any dispute shall be submitted to the courts of the National District.
